Barbados has already led the way setting a bold renewable energy target by 2030 and drives as the model for a turning point which is to fully align with the transition away from fossil fuels, national climate plans and NDC’s due before COP 30 in Brazil. These coming resolutions must serve as road maps for transforming economies and societies to be 1.5 degree Celsius aligned resilient and prosperous.
UN Deputy Chief urged in focusing on 3(three) guiding principles:
- Collaboration: we must work together across sectors. Ministries, actors and regions to make progress this means collaboration between government ministries between state and non-state between multilateral – regional and national development banks by working closely with UN resident coordinators to ensure alignment with national priorities and accelerate implementation on the ground.
- Creativity: the need to address the complexities of the diverse local challenges.
- Coherence: to focus on the essential action to accelerate SDG-7.
The United Nations stands with you to turn these principles into decisive actionable outcomes excellencies and friendlies. Our window for action is closing and we cannot afford to delay. This is a moment to transform commitments into a cleaner fairer and more resilient energy for all. The future is within reach let’s work together, rise to the challenge and turn our collective ambition into tangible impacts.
