On October 5, 1977, President Jimmy Carter signed the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. On that day, the President promised to promptly transmit the two treaties to the Senate for ratification. In so doing, he drew a parallel between the ‘lofty standard of liberty and equality’ embodied in the American Declaration of Independence and the principles of international human rights reflected in the United Nations Charter.”
After his defeat in 1980 US presidential election, he and his beloved wife Rosalynn found the Carter Center in which partnered with Emory University in the field of democracy, humanity and health. The main aim is to restore peace, eradicate infectious diseases and combat poverty with prioritizing the poor who live at the corner of the globe. All their works laid President Carter phenomenal legacies in humanity through the disbursed development programs managed by Carter Center.
We join the condolence of the big family of Carter Center on this great lost. Trust, President Carter has met his beloved wife Rosalynn in heaven, and both now rest in love.
